Japan-U.S.discussion to join TPP talks to begin Jan. or after

Japan and the United States are likely to start preliminary consultations in January or later ahead of Tokyo's entry into negotiations for a trans-Pacific free trade pact, currently involving nine countries, an official at the Office of U.S. Trade Representative indicated Friday.
