Meridian buys US solar plant, eyeing sun power for NZ

Meridian Energy Ltd has bought an American solar power plant being built to supply Californian consumers.
The state-owned electricity "gentailer" -- which both generates and retails electricity -- said it had paid $US5.4 million ($NZ8.1 million) for Cleantech America, which is building a five-megawatt photovoltaic solar power plant at Mendota, inland from San Francisco
