09 August 2018

The NZ US Council chair, Leon Grice, today announced the appointment of the Council’s first fulltime executive director, Jordan Small, to lead its work deepening and broadening the bilateral relationship.

“We are excited to have Jordan as our first fulltime executive director. He brings strong international business, communications, engagement and public policy experience,” Mr Grice said.

“Jordan has the experience we need to lead the Council building a new policy agenda for business, academia and civil society and broadening and deepening the bilateral relationship.”

“Our new policy agenda reflects the reality that policy and regulatory issues relating to the future of food, data, education and work are global issues requiring global thinking."

“Jordan will focus on further developing our US connections so we are working together on shaping the issues and frameworks that will impact New Zealand business, innovators and creative leaders."

“We want to facilitate a more sophisticated discussion and policy development process. And we want Jordan to continue to increase the diversity of the Council membership to reflect the reality of the bilateral relationship,” Mr Grice said.

Jordan brings a strong track record of delivering complex work programmes in New Zealand, China and the United States. As a consultant in China he specialised in crisis management advising multinationals experiencing problems in market. Over the last five years, including the last two since returning to New Zealand, he has worked extensively with the US dairy industry developing their international crisis readiness systems and capability.
